The D&D version of the Gorgon is a curious creature. The metal plated bull has nothing to do with its namesake from the Greek mythology – well, apart from the turning people to stone effect, that is.
While I’m not a fan of save-or-die effects I do have to agree that it at least looks cool. Reason enough to paint one.
So, when Artisan Guild released their Dumlok Flameseekers set, which included armored bulls called “Kalkotaur”, I immediately thought “that’s a gorgon” and painted it as such.
I leaned heavily into the “green gas that turns to stone” element and used some of Green Stuff World’s Chameleon Paint to give the metal parts on the back a green sheen.
