After my egyptian excursion I set my sights on another fascinationg mythology, the chinese one.
I always loved the Shi-Shi or Guardian Lions / Foo Dogs as they are known in the west and have been looking for some good models for some time. Really would have loved to do a traditional pair, one with the ball ond one with a playing cub, but as it turned out it was not as easy as I thought to find good models for them.
The model I found, that I loved the most, was published by StlFilesFree on Cults3d.
The STL is definately a scan of a real world model. There were some obvious scanning artifacts, which were no big deal to clean up, though.
In painting the Shi-Shi I let myself be inspired by World of Warcraft. Their version of the Shi-Shi, the “Quilen”, came in various colors and the Jade version is what I went for in my paintjob.
